Works

After studying at Tokyo University of the Arts, Keita Miyazaki earned his MA from the Royal College of Art in London, where he studied under Richard Wentworth. His works presented at the RCA degree show attracted significant media attention.
Miyazaki is known for sculptures that combine discarded automobile parts with folded textile elements inspired by origami techniques. The sculptural language of his work recalls the lineage of contemporary British sculpture associated with artists such as Anthony Caro and Richard Deacon. By introducing newly formed sculptural interventions to materials that have lost their original function, his works breathe new life into them, elevating them into sculptures of quiet refinement. At times, he also incorporates sound elements into his sculptures, bringing a sense of lightness and contemporary sensibility to the works.
