Born in Kyoto in 1988. B.F.A. Printmaking, Kyoto Seika University in 2010.
Samejima’s work is based on the idea that people cannot perceive the entirety of the world directly; instead, they construct their own realities from fragmentary information obtained through their five senses. With this premise of perception shaped by incomplete observation, she creates paintings as devices to reveal the “invisible existence” that lies beyond those fragments.
