Born in Kyoto in 1988. B.F.A. Printmaking, Kyoto Seika University in 2010.

Samejima’s work is based on the idea that people cannot perceive the entirety of the world directly; instead, they construct their own realities from fragmentary information obtained through their five senses. With this premise of perception shaped by incomplete observation, she creates paintings as devices to reveal the “invisible existence” that lies beyond those fragments.

Her recent exhibitions are “The Visions of Contemporary Art 2025″ The Ueno Royal Museum, Tokyo (2025), solo exhibition:“afterglow” 2kw gallery, Shiga (2023), solo exhibition:”The Beats of Ghosts” NADiff Gallery,Tokyo (2023) and “ACT (Artists Contemporary TOKAS) Vol. 5 ungraspable” Tokyo Arts and Space Hongo, Tokyo (2023).

Her major awards are The Visions of Contemporary Art 2025, VOCA Honorable Mention (2025), Heiwado Foundation Emerging Artists Art Exhibition, 30th Anniversary Special Prize (2024) and NONIO ART WAVE AWARD 2021, Grand Prix / NONIO Prize (2021).
