MAHO KUBOTA GALLERY is pleased to present a solo exhibition of new works by Brian Alfred. The exhibition, entitled “Techno Garden” will open on September 1, 2017.

Techno Garden is a new body of work from Brooklyn based artist Brian Alfred. The show consists of new paintings and a new animation which features a collaboration soundtrack from Ghostly Records recording artist Logan Takahashi. The work in Techno Garden follows the artists’ interests in the balance between man’s desire for invention and man’s relationship to the natural environment. Between painting images from office buildings, highways and jumbled computer cables and images of electric sunsets, forest fires and flyovers, Alfred is placing the viewer between two worlds. One is the idealized world of progress and invention and the other is the actual footprint that development and technology has on the natural environment. Finding danger and beauty in both realms puts the judgment on the human desire for progress in a grey area.
The exhibit features a new animation also called Techno Garden which continues the theme of man versus nature.
